A Cinderella Story: FIBA Asia Banned Lutz and Lassiter

What are they thinking?!

FIBA Asia announced that Chris Lutz and Marcio Lassiter are ineligible to play for the team right before their first game against UAE. This is a bad decision for FIBA because both of the players had already played in several FIBA-sanctioned tournaments like the Champions Cup and Stankovic Cup.

Smart Gilas assistant coach, Charles Tiu tweeted earlier, “Philippines, we have a problem” and a few minutes later Chot Reyes tweeted “FIBA Commissioner just told me now that Lutz & Lassie are ineligible. Only an advise from FIBA In Switzerland can make them play now”

Obviously, this issue raises a concern because Smart Gilas has submitted their 14-man lineup since early-August, and the fact that they’re complaining minutes before the game is unbelievable.

Last night, the Lebanese team protested Lutz and Lassiter’s eligibility to play.

Our team’s current situation is bad because of our lineup will be down to 10 men if Lutz and Lassiter will not be able to play in the rest of the tournament. Our bracket consists of China, Bahrain and UAE. Philippines won 92-52 over UAE. Tomorrow we will face China.

This will be hard for us.

This is just the beginning of our “Cinderella” story.

  1. certainly like your web-site but you need to check the
spelling on quite a few of your posts. Several of them are
rife with spelling issues and I in finding it very troublesome
to inform the truth however I’ll surely come again again.

  2. After I originally left a comment I seem to have clicked on the -Notify me when new comments are added- checkbox and from now
on each time a comment is added I recieve four emails with the same comment.
There has to be an easy method you are able to remove me
    from that service? Kudos!
